History

Fire Station Two was constructed in 1994 to meet the growing demands of the City, and thus, the additional staffing, and to better serve the population on the North side of town. It is still the largest of the 3 firehouses located in Valparaiso and Center Township.

Staffing at Station 2

The Battalion Chief, Engine 2, Rescue 2, and Rescue 22 are staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by full-time Valparaiso Firefighters. All Firefighters are also cross-trained as either EMR's, EMT's or Paramedics. Engine 2 is Advanced Life Support equipped and staffed with at least one Paramedic to begin advanced life support care until an ambulance arrives to continue care and transport. Rescue 2 and Rescue 22 are Advanced Life Support Ambulances and do 911 transports to area hospitals by our cross-trained Firefighter/Paramedics.

The Administrative side staffs: 1 Fire Chief, 1 Assistant Chief of Line Operations, 1 Assistant Chief of EMS, 1 Division Chief of Community Risk Reduction, 1 Administrative Secretary, and 1 Assistant for Ambulance Billing during normal business hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm CT.
